Yummy, the cake cutting!
Most maitre d's or photographers prefer to direct the cutting of the cake. The main thing is to get great photos and let all the guests watch. We feel it is our role is to just announce the cake cutting and play background music .
Back in the day, the singer would charm the guests with "The Bride Cuts the Cake" to the tune of "The Farmer in the Dell". Nowadays, we rarely get a request for the silly song. Besides, we feel sheepish at the thought of performing it in public. Instead, most spouses prefer having the first song be played in the background, like bookends to the wedding reception.
